I brought the book with me this time so I didn't have to give a half-baked explanation again.
Excerpted from The Heartbreak of Aaron Burr
by H.W. Brands; "In the late winter of 1804 he [Burr] arranges for friends to nominate him for governor. Election, should he win, will afford a most respectable exit from the Jefferson administration and provide a base for a subsequent attempt at the presidency. The nomination at once arouses Alexander Hamilton to mount a campaign against him."
I marked a bunch of spots I could make strips out of while I was reading, so I might as well draw the rest of them. Expect more of these within the next few weeks.
Also, Burr's reaction in the third panel is slightly inaccurate. From what I read, it seems like Burr was actually a very sociable person and had many friends. Just not in politics.
Also I spelled "nemeses" wrong. My bad.
